Quantex Announces a New Platform Technology for IV Pumps

Quantex Announces a New Platform Technology for IV Pumps

Quantex Pump enables the replacement of both syringe and peristaltic IV pump types using a single design of delivery set.

Quantex delivers new standards for accuracy and reliability from 0.1ml/h to 1500ml/h, allowing precision control  even when operating with small gauge cannulas.  With consistent performance throughout the operating life of single delivery sets, and zero maintenance and calibration requirements, Quantex is destined to be the new standard for IV pump technology.

Together with our partners we can offer a full IV pump product design and manufacturing facility, or the technology can be licensed for use from Quantex.

The Quantex pump has been designed to fit in a conventional IV line, and acts like a small volume peristaltic pump with automatic prevention of freeflow.  The pump incorporates seals to assure that the sterility of the IV fluid is not compromised in operation and storage.

Key features overview

Feature For nursing staff For hospital managers For pump manufacturers
Single pump and disposable handles wide flow rate range No need to select pump or particular disposables for different flow rates - one pump handles most treatments
Single type of pump and disposable to purchase - reduce inventory cost Minimum investment required as a single product covers the majority of the market
Accuracy and constancy from a simple mechanism Compatible with critical drugs with short active life

The same pump can be used for high rate rehydration
High reliability from a simple mechanism - zero maintenance costs
All wearing parts are part of the disposable - no calibration costs
Equipment libraries and maintenance planning no longer required
New standards of accuracy from a low-cost component
Minimal maintenance and calibration Pump controllers do not need to be found to be sent for calibration Lower cost of ownership, eliminates need for libraries and reduces support requirements Opportunity to set new standards of performance and quality of service, at low cost.
Easy menu-driven interface Simple menu system with minimum key presses to set up infusions. Alarms and warnings are handled through a menu system to ensure patient safety and quick resumption of infusion.

Designed in collaboration with experienced nursing staff - easy input of volume and time, or flow rate and time
Menu system can be expanded to allow easy supervision of performance by support staff without taking the pump off the wards. Controller can be developed to build-in additional software and hardware capabilities such as drug libraries, recognition of medicine bar codes and special profiles for specialist wards.
Special features Inherent anti free-flow. Fluid only flows when the pump is fitted in the controller and is rotated.

Pump self-primes - during set-up the pump is rotated to fill the line with fluid

Rotation of pump is visible - assurance that pump is functioning
Large memory to store user information and infusions carried out, with any warnings or alarms.

Planned operating life can be implemented, depending on usage pattern.
Planned operating life allows supplier to maintain quality of performance.

Controllers can communicate back to manufacturers database and SCADA monitoring
